Job summary

CAE USA in Binghamton, NY, seeks a seasoned software engineer to build mission-ready training systems for defense customers. You will develop and maintain flight and mission simulators, modernize legacy code, and ensure real-time performance in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment.

You will contribute to both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum projects, collaborate with hardware teams, and maintain high standards of reliability and safety for pilots and operators worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering for mission-critical or real-time environments.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship required.
• Flexibility for overtime, shift work, and CONUS travel.

• Develop and maintain software for flight and mission simulators, ensuring reliability and performance to train pilots for safe mission outcomes.
• Work on legacy code bases critical to simulator functionality, driving modernization through enhancements, and new features while ensuring maintenance, optimization, and stability.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in legacy and real-time systems, ensuring simulators meet the highest standards for pilot training. Qualifications and Education Requirements What You Bring:
• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering for mission-critical or real-time environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for ensuring software reliability in high-stakes training environments.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access; U.S. citizenship required.
• Flexibility for occasional overtime, shift work, weekend work, and CONUS travel. Preferred Skills
• Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704; ARINC / RTCA experience preferred.
• Experience working in Waterfall and/or Agile/Scrum environments.

• Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.
• Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required.
