Job summary

CAE USA Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to apply design methods and CAD tools in flight simulator development. The role is primarily in mechanical engineering for training devices, with project-based tasks across multiple programs.

The candidate will stay current with modern engineering concepts, collaborate across teams, and deliver technical solutions from requirements to final acceptance, with potential overtime in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • At least 5 years mechanical engineering experience.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to solve technical and business issues logically.
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required.
  • U.S. citizenship due to DoD contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct technical activities for a small to medium program.
  • Provide technical support during evaluations of training devices.
  • Resolve technical problems with suppliers and manufacturing.
  • Assist in installations and final acceptance of training devices and coordinate deliverables.
  • Support bid and proposal by reviewing technical specs and writing responses.

Summary

Develops and applies engineering design methods, CAD tools, theories, and techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems. Remains abreast of the most modern engineering concepts through personal learning initiatives and continuing education programs while applying this knowledge to assigned tasks when appropriate. This position pertains primarily to the Mechanical Engineering segment of flight simulator design/development and is largely project oriented. Task assignments may transcend several projects/programs simultaneously.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for arranging and directing technical activities of a small to medium scale program.
  • Provides technical support during subjective and objective evaluations of training devices
  • Resolves technical problems and provides technical support to suppliers and manufacturing
  • Participate in installations and final sell off of training devices. Coordinate and review technical/operational deliverables prior to submission to customer
  • Responsible for training device from requirements to final acceptance
  • Support bid and proposal by reviewing technical specifications, recommending design and manufacturing solutions, and writing detailed technical responses
  • Undertakes independent studies, analysis, interpretations, and conclusions
  • Performs product development activities including parametric CAD modeling, drawing creation, and interpretation/implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Teamwork, involving close association with peers, and management is essential to coordinating engineering activities in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • May perform other engineering and non-engineering duties as required by supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
  • Must possess at least 5 years mechanical engineering experience or experience in related industry.
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of Mechanical Engineering Detail oriented.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to solve technical and other business issues in a logical fashion
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
Preferred Skills
  • Machine shop experience and familiarity with hand tools
  • Hands on support of manufacturing
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering and GD&T SolidWorks or Creo experience or similar parametric CAD tool
  • Simulation experience
Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.

  • Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form.
  • Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know.
  • Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.
  • All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
Work Environment

Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility. Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required. The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.
