Job summary

VTG is seeking a Software Engineer-Expert in Chantilly, VA to lead a multi-disciplinary team on a modern, secure IT platform supporting Entitlement Programs and IdAM/ICAM. You will be hands-on with Java, Spring Boot, Angular (TypeScript) and AWS, while mentoring peers and delivering robust RESTful services.

Responsibilities

• Manage the tasking of a small-medium size development team.
• Collaborate with leadership and architects on design, planning, statusing, and architecture.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams for integrations and delivery.
• Maintain legacy applications and modernize where appropriate.
• Write custom scripts to install and configure code in EC2 instances.
• Leverage AWS cloud services and develop RESTful APIs.
• Develop Java and Angular (TypeScript) applications.
• Design and utilize ETL methodologies.
• Conduct unit testing, peer code review, and automated testing (e.g., Selenium).
• Mentor and coach developers on best practices in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Overview VTG is seeking a Software Engineer-Expert for a 200+ FTE technical development program supporting the Sponsor's Entitlement Programs as well as IdAM /ICAM, Authentication, Authorization, Attributes and Digital Policy Management. The Software Engineer will work with a large team of developers, software engineers and data engineers. The successful candidate will support continuity of our customer's mission by helping to modernize and implement industry standards while ensuring secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of IT systems. What will you do?

• Manage the tasking of a small-medium size development team o Collaboratively work with leadership and architects on design, planning, statusing, and architecture o Collaborate with internal and external teams for integrations and tasking delivery o Comfort and familiarity in maintaining legacy applications o Experience in modernization of legacy applications o Ability to write custom scripts to install and configure code in EC2 instances o Experience leveraging Amazon Web Services o Experience creating RESTful API o Experience with spring boot o Develop Java and Angular (Typescript) o Comfort and familiarity designing and utilizing custom ETL methodology o Strong communication, design, and documentation skills o Strong time and workflow management skills o Comfort and familiarity in unit testing, peer code review, and automated testing techniques like Selenium (create, edit, maintain, execute) o Work within the parameters of Agile & Scrum methodologies o Willingness to mentor and teach developers' community best practices in a constructive fashion o Ability to methodically think through technical challenges in a collaborative team environment in order to provide technically sound solutions Do you have what it Takes?
