Job summary

VTG Defense seeks a Software Engineer-Expert to support a 200+ person technical development program focused on Entitlement Programs, IdAM/ICAM, and Digital Policy Management. The role involves leading a diverse team of developers, software engineers, and data engineers to modernize and secure IT systems while preserving availability.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required.
• BS degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in multiple programming languages (Java, Spring Boot, Angular (Typescript), and the Cloud / AWS).
• Full stack development experience to satisfy customer requirements and specifications.
• Knowledge of Git, Jenkins, Selenium, and Rundeck.
• Experience working from the command line (RH Linux).

• Manage the tasking of a small-medium size development team.
• Collaborate with leadership and architects on design, planning, statusing, and architecture.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams for integrations and tasking delivery.
• Maintain legacy applications and modernize where needed.

The Software Engineer will work with a large team of developers, software engineers and data engineers. The successful candidate will support continuity of our customer's mission by helping to modernize and implement industry standards while ensuring secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of IT systems.

Overview

The Software Engineer will work with a large team of developers, software engineers and data engineers. What will you do?

• o Manage the tasking of a small-medium size development team
• o Collaboratively work with leadership and architects on design, planning, statusing, and architecture
• o Collaborate with internal and external teams for integrations and tasking delivery
• o Comfort and familiarity in maintaining legacy applications
• o Experience in modernization of legacy applications
• o Ability to write custom scripts to install and configure code in EC2 instances
• o Experience leveraging Amazon Web Services
• o Experience creating RESTful API
• o Experience with spring boot
• o Develop Java and Angular (Typescript)
• o Comfort and familiarity designing and utilizing custom ETL methodology
• o Strong communication, design, and documentation skills
• o Strong time and workflow management skills
• o Comfort and familiarity in unit testing, peer code review, and automated testing techniques like Selenium (create, edit, maintain, execute)
• o Work within the parameters of Agile & Scrum methodologies
• o Willingness to mentor and teach developers' community best practices in a constructive fashion
• o Ability to methodically think through technical challenges in a collaborative team environment in order to provide technically sound solutions
