Job summary

A leading tech company is seeking an Animation Software Engineer to work on their custom animation rendering engine. This contract role involves adding features, profiling performance, and applying modern graphics techniques. Ideal candidates should possess a degree in Computer Science and experience with GPU APIs such as Metal or OpenGL. Excellent communication skills and a passion for graphics are essential. The pay range for this position is between $120 and $130 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with shaders (GLSL, HLSL, Metal shading language, etc.).
  • Experience with CoreGraphics and CoreAnimation.
  • Familiarity with computer graphics research (SIGGRAPH, GDC, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Adding new features to the Keynote animation engine.
  • Profiling and optimizing performance of Keynote animations.
  • Applying modern testing methodologies to animations.

Skills

Ability to visualize and implement high‑level animation and graphical concepts
Experience with Metal, OpenGL, WebGL, Vulkan, or similar GPU API

Key Qualifications
  • Ability to visualize and implement high‑level animation and graphical concepts
  • Demonstrated experience with Metal, OpenGL, WebGL, Vulkan, or similar GPU API

Education

Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience/skills

Nice‑to‑Haves
  • Familiarity with computer graphics research (SIGGRAPH, GDC, etc.)
  • Development experience with macOS or iOS (Xcode, Instruments, etc.)
  • Experience with CoreGraphics and CoreAnimation
  • Experience with RealityKit, SceneKit, Unity, Unreal, or other high‑level 3D API
  • Experience with low‑level media APIs (AVFoundation, VideoToolbox, etc.)
  • Experience with Motion, After Effects, or other animation editing tools
  • Experience with scripting, unit testing, and automated testing
  • Deep knowledge of GPU architectures
  • Artistic or design background
