Job summary

Jovian Concepts, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 or 2 in the Annapolis Junction, MD area. The role focuses on designing, building, testing, and maintaining enterprise Java applications with Spring Boot, and developing scalable RESTful services for mission-critical systems.

The position requires active TS/SCI clearance with MD polygraph, a related degree or extensive equivalent experience, and strong background in containers, Kubernetes, and Agile development.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with MD polygraph is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university; if no degree, 4 extra years of software engineering experience.
• SWE Level 1 requires at least 7 years of software engineering experience on programs of similar scope; Level 2 requires at least 14 years.
• Experience developing Java enterprise applications using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with relational databases (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.).
• Experience with containers (Docker/Podman) and Kubernetes; experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications using Spring Boot and best practices.
• Develop scalable RESTful APIs and backend services for mission-critical applications.
• Design and optimize relational databases and queries (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Support modernization through containers, Kubernetes, and architecture improvements.
• Participate in design sessions, code reviews, and Agile processes.
• Develop and maintain automated tests and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Jira and Confluence across the SDLC.
