Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to advance our network simulation platform and automate capacity planning using agentic AI. You will scale simulations, improve reliability, and collaborate with AWS teams across AIS.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 2+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience.
• 3+ years of building complex software systems experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver scalable software systems.
• Solve broadly defined problems by designing the right solutions, then owning them through design, implementation, deployment and operations.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and reliability issues in production systems.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews, providing technical guidance to the team.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and leadership to gather requirements, shape technical designs and deliver innovative products.
• Apply engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle - coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, test automation and operations.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture.
