About the Server Platform Team

Server Platform is at the core of Figma's infrastructure foundation! This area owns the foundational layer of infrastructure that underpins all other infrastructure and application services at Figma. The Foundation team within Server Platform enables the efficient operation and rapid development of reliable infrastructure through opinionated platforms.

We are building the V2 of Infrastructure and setting key initiatives for the next half decade. We're seeking thoughtful and technical leaders with experience in designing next-generation edge and network systems to support our growing customer traffic and services.

Role Details

This is a full-time role, available from our US hubs or remotely within the United States.

What You'll Do at Figma

1. Design, build, and operate scalable distributed systems and services that power Figma's design and collaboration tools.
2. Develop and secure our internal and edge networks on AWS.
3. Design and deploy an internal service mesh network to support Figma's expanding services.
4. Create intelligent detection and auto-scaling measures against DDoS threats.
5. Debug production issues across services and multiple stack levels.

Qualifications

1. 4+ years of experience building infrastructure components/services at scale in a cloud environment.
2. Proficiency in programming languages like TypeScript or Go.
3. Experience scaling distributed traffic systems as an individual contributor or team lead.
4. Track record of building, scaling, and shipping high-quality products in high-growth environments.
5. Strong communication skills across functions to drive solutions.
6. Experience working on network and traffic systems handling requests from millions of users.

Preferred Skills

1. Deep knowledge of DDoS attack mechanisms and mitigation on AWS or cloud platforms.
2. Experience securing network infrastructure.
3. Traffic analytics using VPC Flow Logs, Lambda, etc.
4. Knowledge of TCP, HTTP, DNS, SSL protocols.
5. Experience with network proxies like Envoy or Haproxy.
6. Familiarity with service mesh technologies like Istio.

Pay Transparency

If based in our SF or NY hubs, the annual base salary range is $149,000—$350,000 USD. Compensation depends on qualifications, location, and market factors. Remote roles are localized accordingly. We offer equity, benefits, and a comprehensive package of perks.
