Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer skilled in Modern C++ (C++20+) and Rust to join our embedded systems team in Palo Alto. You will design, implement, and test software for resource-constrained environments, focusing on efficiency and reliability.

You will leverage GTest/GMock, Protobuf, and gRPC while working on OS concepts like memory management, concurrency, and real-time communication protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ or Rust.
  • Strong background in distributed systems, networking, and real-time communication protocols (NATs, MQTT, HTTPs, gRPC).
  • Experience working with Linux-based systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a strong capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with engineering and business teams.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer proficient in Modern C++ (C++20 and above) and/or Rust to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of operating system concepts and the ability to write efficient, high-quality code in resource-constrained environments. You will work on cutting-edge systems, develop robust unit tests (GTest, GMock), and contribute to high-impact embedded software projects.

  • Automotive industry experience or familiarity with automotive-grade software development is a plus.

Payments are discretionary and not guaranteed; actual amounts depend on company results and the terms of the plan in effect, and require active employment at the time of payout. This role is also eligible for equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), subject to board approval and the terms of our equity incentive plans, including applicable vesting requirements.
