Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is hiring an engineer on an Agile Scrum team to rapidly develop and deploy software for a complex space system. You will use JavaScript/Node.js/Java to build end-to-end capabilities and ensure secure, mission-ready delivery.

You will work with Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher in cloud environments, contributing to code that supports space missions and defense priorities.

Qualifications

  • Recent full-stack development experience with JavaScript, Node.js and Java.
  • Experience with web components libraries (Lit, React, Angular).
  • Knowledge of version control with Git/GitLab/Git Bash.
  • CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment experience.
  • Containerization in cloud environments using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Rancher.
  • Agile development with Jira and Confluence; strong testing practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and simulate operational plans for space domain capabilities.
  • Dynamically optimize sensors for space domain awareness.
  • Strategically position satellite constellations to meet evolving priorities.

As an engineer on an Agile Scrum Team, you will have the opportunity to rapidly develop and deploy solutions for a complex space system following core engineering principles, ultimately enabling the delivery of fully functioning mission capability to end users securely and continuously.

Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications
  • Recent experience in software development using JavaScript, Node.js, and Java for full-stack development
  • Recent JavaScript library experience with web-based components (e.g., Lit, React, Angular)
  • Experience with Git/Gitlab/Git Bash for software version control
  • Experience with CI/CD - Deployment pipelines, automated build, and configuration tools
  • Experience with application containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Rancher, etc.) in a cloud environment (AWS/Azure/Openstack/Openshift)
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, using tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer science, computer engineering, other engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with software test best practices, including unit test, integration test, and end-to-end test
  • US Citizenship Required: No clearance required to start but must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance
Desired Skills
  • Experience with API design and development, such as RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge of database management systems, such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
  • Experience with microservices and microservice architecture
  • Experience with SpringBoot or Quarkus for backend Java development
  • Experience with LIT for JS front-end
  • Experience with HTML/CSS
  • Experience with Helm charts for infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Familiarity with the Space Domain
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a collaborative environment
  • Experience in running unit tests with Playwright and/or integration testing with Cucumber
  • Experience working on large-scale software projects with multiple teams and stakeholders
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $135700.00 - $251900.00
