Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in the United States seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Command & Control / Simulator team. As part of an Agile group, you will work on a range of tasks across missions, collaborating with developers, contractors, customers, and subject matter experts.

  • Experience with pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Git.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and ability to contribute to sprint planning and retrospective sessions.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small teams.
  • US citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance

  • Participate in daily scrums, software sprint/release planning, demos, and retrospectives
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive adoption of best practices (CI/CD, automated testing, secure coding, performance profiling).
  • Develop & demonstrate software capabilities to both internal and external partners

In This Position You Will

Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, etc.
  • Experienced with software applications providing command and control services for satellites, antennas, and ground hardware assets.
  • Experience with modern technology frameworks, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, APIs, DevOps, and data architecture.
  • Experience with pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and version control (Git).
  • Understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and ability to contribute to sprint planning and retrospective sessions; comfortable with iterative development and rapid feedback cycles.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small teams.
  • US citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance
Desired Skills
  • Experienced with Horizon software
  • Previous Flight Software or Simulation Software Experience
  • Experience Agile development tools such as Jira and Confluence
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $135700.00 - $251900.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
