Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Huntsville, AL seeks a software developer for the Ground Missile Defense (GMD) Weapon System. You will understand, implement, and test capabilities and algorithms, participate in Ada to C++ modernization, and support reviews of requirements and test cases.

The Engagement Planner team handles math/physics-based solutions visible to the MDA and requires Ada/C++/Java, MATLAB, Python, Linux, and the ability to work in a secure environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field with 5+ years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience, or 0 years with a PhD.
  • Experience developing software in Ada or C++ or Java.
  • Must be able to obtain Interim or Active Secret Clearance and work in-person/closed-area environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and debug software containing mathematical solutions to mission problems.
  • Translate Ada code to C++ and participate in modernization efforts.
  • Support reviews of requirements and test cases for the Engagement Planner team.

The Work

As a software developer on the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) Engagement Planner team, you will work in collaborative environment to understand, implement, and test existing and new capabilities and algorithms and may participate in code modernization and translating Ada code to C++. The algorithms and capabilities implemented by the Engagement Planner team are mathematics and physics based complex solutions that will be highly visible to the GWS customer, Missile Defense Agency (MDA). You will also be expected to support reviews of requirements and test cases that are developed in support of the Engagement Planner team.

Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM related field, and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of related experience, or 0 years with a PhD
  • Recent and extensive Experience Developing Software in Ada or C++or Java
  • Willingness to become highly proficient with Ada software development
  • Quick to learn and absorb new concepts and information
  • Recent MATLAB and Python Experience
  • Must have an Interim or Active Secret Clearance
  • Unix/Linux Operating System Experience
  • Current GWS GFC engagement planner team experience.
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
Desired Skills
  • Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations
  • Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis
  • Experience with the MDA GMD program.
  • Experience with Agile Project Management tools (Jira/Confluence) and DevSecOps tools and methods (Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Gitlab) of continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment (CI/CD) automation
  • Very solid background in math and physics
  • Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $98100.00 - $182100.00
