Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Software Developer to work on the Ground Missile Defense (GMD) Fire Control Engagement Planner team. You will help implement and test Ada and C++ software and contribute to modernization efforts in a highly visible defense project.

You will review requirements, collaborate across disciplines, and support mission-critical capabilities while navigating a secure in-person work environment with potential access to sensitive data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM field with 5+ years of related experience, or a Master's with 3+ years, or a PhD.
  • Experience solving highly mathematical and physics-based problems.
  • Experience analyzing and implementing optimization algorithms.
  • Recent and extensive experience developing software in Ada or C++ and willingness to learn Ada further.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and Python.
  • Active Secret Clearance and Unix/Linux experience.
  • Must be able to work in an in-person/closed-area environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and modify software for the GMD Fire Control Engagement Planner.
  • Participate in reviews of requirements and test cases.
  • Support Ada to C++ code modernization efforts.
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional team to deliver mission-critical capabilities.

The Work

As a software developer on the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) Engagement Planner team, you will work in collaborative environment to understand, implement, and test existing and new capabilities and algorithms and may participate in code modernization and translating Ada code to C++. The algorithms and capabilities implemented by the Engagement Planner team are mathematics and physics based complex solutions that will be highly visible to the GWS customer, Missile Defense Agency (MDA). You will also be expected to support reviews of requirements and test cases that are developed in support of the Engagement Planner team.

Standard Job Description

Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM related field, and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of related experience, or 0 years with a PhD.
  • Experience with solving highly mathematical and physics based complex problems
  • Experience analyzing and implementing optimization algorithms
  • Recent and extensive Experience Developing Software in Ada or C++
  • Willingness to become highly proficient with Ada software development
  • Quick to learn and absorb new concepts and information
  • Recent MATLAB and Python Experience
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance
  • Unix/Linux Operating System Experience

Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $98100.00 - $182100.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
