Overview

Software Engineer SME role supporting USPACOM J6 enterprise IT modernization and mission partner interoperability. The position is located on customer site at Camp Smith, HI.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead IT modernization projects from requirements definition through planning, integration, testing, and transition.
• Collaborate with technical teams to mature prototypes, expansion sprints, and enterprise capability improvements.
• Conduct software engineering analysis and application modernization efforts, emphasizing secure design, integration, and DevSecOps practices.
• Translate mission needs into maintainable software requirements and implementation plans.
• Resolve technical challenges in partnership with USPACOM J6 stakeholders, service components, mission partners, and internal teams.
• Prepare technical documentation, briefings, status inputs, and recommendations for customer and internal leadership.

Qualifications

• Technical training, certification(s), or equivalent experience; degree not explicitly required by the external labor category.
• 15+ years of relevant experience supporting DoD/enterprise IT environments or equivalent mission area.
• Experience with software architecture, DevSecOps, application modernization, APIs and integration, secure development, and technical leadership.
• Strong communication, analytical problem‑solving, technical writing, customer engagement, and coordination across engineering, cybersecurity, operations, and mission partner teams.

Preferred Experience

• Support for USPACOM, combatant command, service component, or joint/coalition mission environments.
• Work in government site environments and coordination with military and civilian stakeholders.

Security Clearance

Final Top Secret clearance required.

Work Location & Travel

On customer site at Camp Smith, HI.
Travel: Less than 10% required.

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $187,179 – $241,500 (determined by experience, location, and contractual requirements).
