Cayuse Holdings in Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to enterprise-scale applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, and PostgreSQL. You will design, develop, and deploy secure, scalable solutions in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience as a Full Stack Developer.
• 8+ years of IT experience preferred.
• Strong UI development with React, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Proven experience with Java, Spring Framework/Security (6+), and Spring Boot (3+).
• Deep understanding of Hibernate (6+), RESTful APIs, SQL/PLSQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Maven and Git/GitLab for builds/version control.
• Cloud and containerization with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and related tools.
• Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and CI/CD practices.

Overview

The Software Engineer, Senior will contribute to the development, enhancement, and support of enterprise-level systems while adhering to agile methodologies and participating in scrum ceremonies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot for back-end development, React for front-end user interface design, and PostgreSQL for creating optimized database schemas and queries. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills, and a solid track record of successfully delivering large-scale enterprise applications from concept to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive design and development support using Java, Spring Model View Controller (MVC), Spring Security, and Spring Boot.
• Build secure and responsive user interfaces (UIs) using React, TypeScript/JavaScript, and reusable design patterns.
• Design and implement secure RESTful APIs for data access and integration.
• Develop normalized PostgreSQL schemas and entity relationships supporting scalability and performance.
• Ensure clean and maintainable code with adherence to best practices.
• Design and implement modern UI components with a focus on responsive design, accessibility, and user experience.
• Adhere to Section 508 accessibility compliance and enterprise security practices.
• Perform database design, optimization, and migration efforts to ensure data integrity across legacy and new systems.
• Develop and maintain optimized SQL/PLSQL queries for database operations.
• Plan and execute application deployments using version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• Support operation and maintenance (O&M) efforts, ensuring availability and reliability of applications.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including stakeholders, designers, and other developers.
• Document all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Actively participate in Agile and Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
• Utilize and manage work through Atlassian tools, such as Jira and Confluence.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience as a Full Stack Developer.
• A total of 8+ years of IT experience is preferred.
• Strong UI development skills using React, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Proven experience with Java and the Spring Framework/Security (6+) and Spring Boot (3+).
• Deep understanding of Hibernate (6+), RESTful APIs, SQL/PLSQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Extensive experience with build tools such as Maven and version control systems like Git/GitLab.
• Proficiency with data migration and database design for scalable enterprise systems.
• Cloud and Containerization:
  • Experience with AWS services including S3, EC2, ECS, Aurora, and CloudWatch.
  • Practical experience in working with Keycloak, Kubernetes, Maven, and Docker for containerized applications.
• Agile and DevOps Practices:
  • Strong experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automation pipelines for efficient and reliable deployments.
• Additional Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Exceptional documentation, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong team collaboration and a growth mindset.
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance required.
• Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
