Cayuse Holdings is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to lead the administration, optimization, and troubleshooting of Windows and UNIX systems across multiple projects. You will collaborate with vendors, define system requirements, and ensure client compliance while aligning with Cayuse’s core values.

The role requires DoD 8140 certifications, Top-Secret clearance, and extensive experience in system configuration, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 6–8 years of related experience or Master’s degree with 2–6 years of experience.
• DoD 8140-compliant certifications (e.g., IAT Level II).
• Top-Secret Clearance required.
• Background check clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee setup, configuration, and operational activities for mainframe, mini, or client/server systems.
• Serve as SME for Windows and UNIX (Linux or Solaris) operating systems.
• Plan, implement, and manage custom system solutions to meet organizational needs.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize system operations and resource utilization.
• Conduct system capacity planning to ensure scalability and performance.
• Analyze faults, identify root causes, and resolve technical issues.
• Perform diagnostic tests for hardware and operating systems; engage in detailed problem analysis.
• Collaborate with vendors during troubleshooting and resolve complex issues.
• Evaluate, install, and manage software during testing and production phases.

Overview

The Work

The Systems Administrator, Senior will be administering, optimizing, and troubleshooting computer systems, including Windows and UNIX systems (Linux or Solaris), ensuring optimal performance and reliability. You will be responsible for leading initiatives, collaborating with vendors, overseeing system requirements for multiple projects, and ensuring compliance with client guidelines.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the setup, configuration, and operational activities for mainframe, mini, or client/server-based business systems.


• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in managing operating systems such as Windows or UNIX (Linux and Solaris).


• Plan, implement, and manage custom system solutions to meet organizational needs.


• Continuously monitor, analyze, and optimize system operations and resource utilization.


• Conduct system capacity planning to ensure scalability and performance.


• Analyze system faults; identify root causes and resolve technical issues.


• Perform diagnostic tests and engage in detailed problem analysis for hardware and operating systems.


• Collaborate with vendors during troubleshooting and resolve complex technical problems.


• Evaluate, install, and manage software during various phases of testing and production.


• Conduct thorough reviews and prepare clear and accurate documentation for system testing, software installation, and configuration.


• Design and execute preventive maintenance plans to ensure system integrity and availability.


• Proactively address system and environment-related issues to minimize downtime.


• Collaborate with business units to determine system/environment requirements for multiple projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines.


• Coordinate effectively with vendors to ensure resolution of technical issues and perform updates as necessary.

Qualifications

Qualifications – Here's What You Need

• Bachelor’s Degree with 6-8 years of related experience or Master’s Degree with 2-6 years of experience.


• Considerable experience in configuring and administering Windows and UNIX systems (Linux or Solaris).


• DoD 8140-compliant certifications (e.g., IAT Level II credentials).


• Top-Secret Clearance is required.


• Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

• Familiarity with system configuration and documentation processes for software installations and testing.


• Proven ability to administer systems with varying schedules for multi-project environments.


• Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills for systems and environments of varying complexity.


• Strong communication and collaboration skills to interface effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

Working Conditions

• Professional office environment, with the ability to work onsite in the main office.
