Job summary

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) seeks a Software Engineer for the Warfare Systems team, based in Mount Laurel, NJ (on-site at least 3 days/week) or Arlington, VA. You will refactor legacy software into a microservices-based stack, enabling cloud-native and tactical-edge deployments for Navy platforms.

The role covers AI/ML data analytics, cybersecurity, and real-time tooling; involves collaboration with cross-site teams and adherence to DoD standards. Clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 0–5 years of professional experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Familiarity with combat system design and DOD software.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test software in C, C++, Python, JavaScript, and Java.
• Refactor legacy monolithic code into modern microservices in cloud and edge deployments.
• Assess Navy tactical system code and prototype AI/ML based solutions.
• Collaborate with customers to elicit requirements and document agreements.
• Contribute to software architecture including hardware/software interfaces.
• Participate in design and code reviews and integrate components.
