Job summary

Digital Prospectors seeks a Software Engineer to design, develop, implement, and test software for large-scale communications demonstrations. You will work in a disciplined, collaborative environment using modern software practices.

Responsibilities include architecting systems, implementing C++ software, developing protocols, and translating prototypes to real-time software while collaborating across disciplines. Interim clearance is acceptable to begin.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of directly relevant experience.
• Experience with C++ and C++11.
• Experience with source-control systems such as Git, SVN, or ClearCase.
• Experience with object-oriented software development.
• Experience with UML modeling.
• Knowledge of modern software deployment techniques.
• Experience with software DevSecOps.
• Experience with software algorithms and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of design patterns and data structures.
• Experience with distributed systems and interprocess communication (UDP/TCP/ActiveMQ).
• Experience with Linux development environments and/or commercial RTOS.
• Experience with hardware abstraction layers.
• Familiarity with software lifecycle processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication, particularly in technical documentation.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• An interim security clearance is sufficient to begin the assignment.

Responsibilities

• Define software architectures for communications-based systems.
• Design and implement system software, primarily in C++.
• Develop communication protocols and state machines with system designers.
• Translate prototype simulations into real-time software.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and prototype software solutions.
• Support software integration, test design, and lab/field activities.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation including specs and diagrams.
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to internal/external audiences.
• Apply software lifecycle processes and DevSecOps practices.
• Support software algorithm development and performance improvements.
