Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (CS/engineering) or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of systems-level programming in Rust or C++.
• Experience deploying software in Linux environments with networking and containers.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer, Mission Systems to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space.

This role will help design and deliver software that supports integrated airborne, ground, and cloud systems in a highly technical aviation environment. The engineer will contribute across the stack, from embedded and systems-level components through application software, with an emphasis on reliability in both R&D and production use. This position will collaborate closely with hardware, infrastructure, and operations stakeholders to ensure the platform performs safely and consistently in demanding real-world conditions.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Define system architecture for integrated airborne, ground, and cloud solutions
• Develop, debug, and deploy software from embedded systems to application layers
• Integrate complex third‑party hardware and software into the autonomy platform
• Ensure software systems perform reliably in both R&D and production contexts
• Support daily operations of the company's autonomy system

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of systems-level programming experience in Rust and/or C++
• Experience in environments using software in daily production
• Preferred experience deploying software on Linux, including networking and containerization
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and services
• Understanding of networking principles such as UDP/IP and sockets
• Experience with software that integrates with hardware systems
