Job summary

Iron EagleX is seeking a Software Engineer-Mid to support SOCNORTH at Peterson AFB, CO. You will design and maintain data-driven backend systems, focusing on secure, high-performance search and analytics using Python or JavaScript/TypeScript. You will develop APIs with Flask/FastAPI and manage data ingestion with SQLAlchemy on Postgres/Elasticsearch.

Requires 5 years of experience, TS/SCI clearance, and 5 days on-site; AWS, Docker, and DevSecOps familiarity is preferred. U.S.

Qualifications

• 5 years of related software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, and DevSecOps tools preferred.
• Role requires 5 days on-site; US citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain data-driven backend systems for secure, high-performance search and analytics.
• Develop APIs and microservices using Python Flask or FastAPI; ingest and retrieve data.
• Build backend services for data ingestion and retrieval; implement CI/CD and IaC practices.
• Perform Exploratory Data Analysis on CAI/PAI datasets; access data via SQLAlchemy.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Software Engineer-Mid will support Special Operations Command - North (SOCNORTH) located at Peterson AFB (Colorado Springs), Colorado.

JOB DUTIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)

As a Software Engineer, you will design and maintain data-driven backend systems to provide secure, high-performance search and analytics capabilities, with a focus on supporting U.S. national security missions. This role involves developing applications using Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; for Python, the Streamlit library is preferred, while React is used for JavaScript/TypeScript projects. You will develop backend services for data ingestion and retrieval, design APIs and microservices using Python Flask or FastAPI, and implement DevSecOps practices such as CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code. Additionally, a crucial part of the job involves conducting Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) on Commercially Available Information (CAI), Publicly Available Information (PAI), and other datasets. Data is stored in Postgres databases and can be accessed via SQLAlchemy.Expertise in backend programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java, experience with search and data systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS), container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevSecOps practices are essential.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Proficient inJavaScript/TypeScriptReact and Python.
• Proficient in Flask or FastAPI and familiar withrelational/non-relationaldatabases including Postgres and Elasticsearch.
• Proficient with Git, SQLAlchemy, and basic CI/CD pipeline support.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

• Clearance:Current DoW TS/SCI Clearance isrequired.
• Experience:5 years of related software development experience.
• Education:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Certifications:None required; familiarity with AWS, Docker, and DevSecOps tools is preferred.
• Role requirements:5 days on-site
