Job summary

Iron EagleX (IEX), a subsidiary of General Dynamics Information Technology, seeks a Mid Software Engineer to support SOCNORTH at Peterson AFB. You design and maintain data-driven backend systems with Python/TypeScript, build APIs, and implement DevSecOps practices in a secure, high-performance environment.

Responsibilities include data ingestion, EDA on CAI/PAI datasets, and working with PostgreSQL databases via SQLAlchemy.

Qualifications

• Current DoD TS/SCI clearance is required.
• 5 years of related software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, and DevSecOps tools is preferred.
• Role requires 5 days on-site.
• Due to US Government Contract Requirements, only US Citizens are eligible for this role.

Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

The Software Engineer-Mid will support Special Operations Command - North (SOCNORTH) located at Peterson AFB (Colorado Springs), Colorado.

JOB DUTIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)

As a Software Engineer, you will design and maintain data-driven backend systems to provide secure, high-performance search and analytics capabilities, with a focus on supporting U.S. national security missions. This role involves developing applications using Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; for Python, the Streamlit library is preferred, while React is used for JavaScript/TypeScript projects. You will develop backend services for data ingestion and retrieval, design APIs and microservices using Python Flask or FastAPI, and implement DevSecOps practices such as CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code. Additionally, a crucial part of the job involves conducting Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) on Commercially Available Information (CAI), Publicly Available Information (PAI), and other datasets. Data is stored in Postgres databases and can be accessed via SQLAlchemy. Expertise in backend programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java, experience with search and data systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS), container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevSecOps practices are essential.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript React and Python.


• Proficient in Flask or FastAPI and familiar with relational/non-relational databases including Postgres and Elasticsearch.


• Proficient with Git, SQLAlchemy, and basic CI/CD pipeline support.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Clearance: Current DoW TS/SCI Clearance is required.

Experience: 5 years of related software development experience.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Certifications: None required; familiarity with AWS, Docker, and DevSecOps tools is preferred.
