Primefocus Health is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our software teams in a hands‑on leadership role focused on scalable microservices and Flutter mobile/web solutions for our healthcare platform.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural strategy with the VP of Engineering, and ensure delivery while maintaining HIPAA/HITECH compliance. This hybrid role requires coordinating across multiple states with travel and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
• 2+ years of engineering management experience leading remote or hybrid teams
• 5+ years of hands‑on software development experience with progression to technical leadership
• Experience in U.S. healthcare tech, including EHR integrations and regulatory compliance
• Expertise in microservices, distributed systems, and cloud‑native technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)
• Familiarity with mobile development using Flutter and secure software development practices

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering teams. This is a hands‑on leadership role focused on growing and supporting a team of engineers to develop secure, scalable microservices and mobile/web solutions for our healthcare platform. The ideal candidate will bring deep engineering expertise, strong people management skills, and a passion for driving technical execution in a mission‑driven startup environment. This position reports to the VP of Engineering and offers significant opportunity to influence product strategy and engineering excellence.

Work Setting

This is a full‑time hybrid position based in California, Illinois, or New York, with onsite presence as per the schedule proposed by the manager. Candidates should expect regular in‑person collaboration, and occasional travel (up to 15%) may be required across these states or to West Virginia for customer site visits, team offsites, or relevant industry events.

Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
• 2+ years of engineering management experience leading remote or hybrid teams
• 5+ years of hands‑on software development experience with clear progression into technical leadership roles
• Experience in the U.S. healthcare technology sector, including EHR system integrations and regulatory compliance
• Expertise in microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cloud‑native technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)
• Familiarity with mobile development using Flutter and an understanding of secure software development practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building and maintaining HIPAA compliant systems and solutions
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
• Background in implementing audit logging and data encryption protocols
• Fluency in agile delivery methods and cross‑functional stakeholder management
• Ability to coach and scale high‑performing engineering teams
• Strong emotional intelligence and systems thinking for team leadership and architecture
• Experience working with connected health devices or Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) systems

Compensation

Total compensation for this role is expected to fall within the range of $150,000 to $190,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and alignment with the responsibilities outlined. Additional equity and performance‑based incentives may be available.
