Job summary

A defense technology company is seeking a Software Test Engineer based in Huntsville, Alabama. Position Overview:

The selected Software Test Engineer responsibilities will include the support of the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program as an individual contributor on the Test team for the Ground Fire Control (GFC) product.

Essential Functions:

• Basic Qualifications for Software Test Engineer - Level 2: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and 0-2 years of related work experience.
• Working Knowledge of system design, requirements development, use cases, test plans, procedure preparation, and test execution
• Recent experience with software testing or integration
• Experience with Object-Oriented programming languages
• Knowledge of Python and automation scripting
• Applicants must possess good communication skills.
• Applicants must demonstrate ability to think critically and capture concepts in work products, presentations, and discussions.
• Capable of working both independently and within a team environment.
• Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
• Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.

Basic Qualifications (BQs):

This requisition may be filled at either a Software Test Engineer - Level 2 or a Principal Software Test Engineer - Level 3.

Basic Qualifications:

• Basic Qualifications for Software Test Engineer - Level 2: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and 0-2 years of related work experience.
• Basic Qualifications for Principal Software Test Engineer - Level 3: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related work experience, or 1 year of related work experience with a PhD.
• Working Knowledge of system design, requirements development, use cases, test plans, procedure preparation, and test execution
• Recent experience with software testing or integration
• Experience with Object-Oriented programming languages
• Knowledge of Python and automation scripting

• Understanding of root cause analysis and analyzing of large data log files
