Job summary

FIS is seeking a senior software engineer to develop and architect complex applications across front-end and back-end platforms. The role involves coding, testing, and collaborating with business and technology teams to deliver client solutions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop moderately complex to highly complex code using front-end and back-end programming languages across multiple platforms in collaboration with business and technology teams for internal and external client software solutions.
• Design, architect, and deliver complex program specifications for code development and support on multiple concurrent projects with a comprehensive understanding of application ecosystems, database design, and cloud infrastructure to optimize interactions and technology alignment.
• Analyze, modify, and develop complex code, unit testing, and integration testing to produce thorough application documentation.
• Perform testing, validation, and code review for complex code changes across distributed systems.
• Perform corrective measures for complex code deficiencies, propose alternative solutions, and drive resolution independently.
• Lead and participate in client-facing meetings, joint venture discussions, and vendor partnership teams to determine solution approaches and architectural direction.
• Provide support and guidance to leadership for the design, development, and enforcement of business and infrastructure application standards including associated controls, procedures, and monitoring to ensure compliance and accuracy of data.
• Apply a comprehensive understanding of procedures, methodology, and application standards including Payment Card Industry (PCI) security compliance, cloud security best practices, and data governance frameworks.
• Conduct and provide billable hours and resource estimates on initiatives, projects, and issues.
• Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level software engineers.
• Lead code reviews, establish coding standards, and drive engineering best practices across teams.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business/Management Information Systems, or a related field.

Must have 8 years of progressive work experience in the job offered or a related position.

Must have experience with the following:

• Coding, designing, developing, architecting, and analyzing data-intensive applications;
• Use of at least one front-end/back-end languages/technologies such as Java (JDK 17 through JDK 25), Python, JavaScript, Mainframe COBOL, or Mainframe Assembler;
• Experience with at least two modern programming languages/frameworks such as Python, React.js, Spring Boot framework, R, or Matlab;
• Spring Boot microservices development including RESTful service design, dependency injection, Spring Security, and Spring Data;
• Various APIs and external services including RESTful APIs and Postman;
• Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases including design, familiarity with DDL and DML for at least one of the following: Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, IMS, DB2;
• AWS Cloud infrastructure development experience including AWS Lambda, EC2, S3, ECS/EKS, CloudFormation, IAM, API Gateway, and CloudWatch;
• Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration, DAG development, scheduling, and data pipeline automation;
• Mainframe knowledge including COBOL, JCL, CICS, and VSAM;
• Experience with GitHub Copilot for AI-assisted code development including prompt engineering, code generation, code completion, test generation, and leveraging Copilot Chat for debugging and documentation;
• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) including GPT, Claude, Gemini, LLaMA, and related AI technologies; understanding of how to integrate and utilize LLMs for software development productivity, code review automation, and intelligent application features;
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

ALTERNATIVE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

In lieu of a bachelor's degree, will accept 3 years of post‑secondary study in any field and one additional year of experience (totaling 9 years of work experience in the job offered or a related position).

Must have experience with the following:
