Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience developing iOS applications through roles, internships, projects, or coursework.
• Proficiency with Swift and SwiftUI; familiarity with UIKit and common iOS frameworks.
• Experience with Electronic Flight Bag apps, location services, or Mapbox/MapKit navigation.
• Experience integrating external hardware or edge devices and managing real-time data pipelines.
• Ability to optimize performance for large datasets and offline-first / connectivity-resilient apps.
• Familiarity with background processing, Swift Concurrency, and security practices (Keychain, encryption).
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
• U.S. Person status and US work authorization required; San Carlos, CA residency or relocation needed.

Job description

• Design and implement iOS features using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and modern iOS frameworks


• Build and maintain high-performance mobile applications handling large wind and weather datasets in real time


• Develop and integrate Electronic Flight Bag features, including location services, map navigation, and aviation instrument displays


• Integrate external hardware and edge devices for real-time data ingestion and application functionality


• Architect offline-first experiences and graceful degradation for low- or no-connectivity environments


• Implement background processing and long-running compute tasks using Swift Concurrency, async/await, and background task APIs


• Apply data security practices including Keychain storage, encryption, and secure data handling


• Collaborate with senior engineers and designers to deliver precise, reliable, intuitive mobile experiences


• Participate in code reviews and follow iOS best practices and architectural patterns


• Ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability through testing and documentation

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience developing iOS applications, or equivalent experience through internships, projects, or coursework

• Familiarity with Electronic Flight Bag applications, location services, or Mapbox/MapKit navigation frameworks


• Experience integrating external hardware or edge devices and managing real-time data pipelines


• Ability to optimize application performance and handle large datasets without speed or reliability degradation


• Experience building offline-first or connectivity-resilient mobile applications, including local data caching and sync strategies


• Familiarity with background processing and long-running task management using Swift Concurrency or background task frameworks


• Understanding of iOS data security practices, including Keychain, encrypted storage, and secure coding principles


• Familiarity with async/await, multithreading, or GCD


• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn from feedback and mentorship


• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-moving environment


• Experience with iPad applications, split view, multitasking, or large-screen layouts is a bonus


• Experience with safety-critical or mission-critical systems is a bonus


• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows or cloud-backed mobile systems is a bonus


• U.S. Person status required due to U.S. export control regulations


• Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States


• No visa sponsorship or visa transfer support; all work must be performed in the United States


• Willingness to work in San Carlos, CA at least 3 days per week or relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area
