Job summary

Wellmark invites current junior or senior computer science or MIS students for a 2027 Summer Internship in Des Moines, IA. You’ll contribute to application development across front-end and back-end, work with NodeJS, Angular, .NET, MongoDB and SQL, and learn from experts in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a junior or senior pursuing a Computer Science, MIS, or related degree.
• Familiar with modern software development technologies (NodeJS, Angular, .NET, MongoDB, SQL).
• Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to full stack development for new features.
• Collaborate with tech and business stakeholders to troubleshoot issues.
• Participate in team ceremonies for planning and estimation.

What projects might I support?

Although subject to change, examples of projects you will be contributing to include:

• Collaborate with Technology and business stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve production support issues
• Active participation in team ceremonies for work breakdown, estimation, sequencing, and continuous improvement
• Full stack development opportunities for new features
• Contribute to creating inclusive, accessible, and user-friendly websites by applying WCAG best practices
• Develop business knowledge of the application necessary to effectively provide support maintenance

This internship will start in May of 2027, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines.

• Current junior or senior student pursing a Bachelor's degree inComputerScience, MIS,or related field
• Knowledge of software development technologies (NodeJS, Angular, .NET, MongoDB, SQL)
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills. Accuracy and high attention to detail and self-starter.
• Ability to troubleshoot and develop creative technical solutions.
• Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel)
• Excellent writing and communication skills

Preferred:

• Prior work experience in an office environment or internship
