Job summary

Thinklance LLP is seeking an undergraduate intern to assist in designing, developing, and operating edge infrastructure (Kubernetes, containers, Ingress/Gateway) under senior guidance. You’ll contribute to performance, reliability, and security while learning best practices in cloud-native engineering.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a technical Bachelor's degree, with solid fundamentals in data structures, OS, networks, and at least one language (Go/C/Rust).

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Assist in the design, development, and operation of infrastructure components for global edge Points of Presence (PoPs), including Kubernetes/control plane, virtualization/containers, and Ingress/Gateway, with guidance from senior engineers, focusing on performance, reliability, and security.
• Participate in delivering cloud-native features from requirements gathering through implementation, testing, and rollout, while learning engineering best practices.
• Help build observability and troubleshooting tools such as metrics, logs, tracing, and profiling, and contribute to automation that improves incident response efficiency.

About You

The company is looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Solid foundation in software engineering fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and computer networks.
• Programming experience in one or more languages such as Go, C, or Rust, demonstrated through coursework, personal projects, or open-source contributions.
• Familiarity with Linux and a basic understanding of containers, distributed systems, or networking concepts.
• Strong problem-solving skills, a growth mindset, ownership, and eagerness to learn in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Prior internship, co-op, or research experience related to backend or systems development, cloud-native technologies, or infrastructure.
• Hands‑on exposure to containers and Kubernetes through coursework, side projects, or internships, including deploying applications, basic cluster operations, service discovery, or Ingress/Gateway.
• Contributions to cloud-native open-source projects such as Kubernetes, Containerd, or Cilium/eBPF.
• Deeper Linux knowledge including kernel, scheduling, TCP/IP, routing, and iptables/nftables.
• Coursework, projects, or interest in CDN, live streaming, RTC, or other edge or traffic‑intensive architectures.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rate of $45.

• 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in the first half of the year, 40 hours if hired in the second half).
• Housing allowance eligibility for interns not working 100% remotely.
