Job summary

Peraton in Herndon, VA is seeking a motivated student for its ten-week IRAD internship program. You'll participate in advanced research projects across communications, space, cybersecurity, defense, public safety and health, supporting requirements and story development while contributing to software architecture and development.

Work in an Agile environment, perform unit and component testing, and collaborate with full-time staff in Strategic Innovation Centers.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma and some advanced level training.
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• Foundational experience in an object-oriented programming language, preferably Java.
• Exposure to software development processes.
• Familiarity with software development and/or scripting languages such as Java, Python, C++, and Bash.
• Hands-on programming experience through coursework and/or prior internships.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies and concepts.
• Self-motivated, independent, detail-oriented, responsible team-player.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• 3.0 and above GPA (desired).
• Exposure to Agile software development processes (desired).
• Familiarity with web development frameworks and/or database technologies (desired).
• Exposure to cloud computing environments (desired).

Responsibilities

• Support Peraton’s IRAD program.
• Work on advanced research projects across domains such as communications, space, cybersecurity, defense, public safety and health.
• Support requirements and story development.
• Contribute to software architecture and design.
• Perform software development.
• Conduct unit and component testing.
• Work in an Agile software development environment.
• Collaborate with full-time staff in Strategic Innovation Centers.
• Commit to the full ten-week June–August program and work 35–40 hours per week.
