Job summary

Northwood Space in Torrance, CA is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 with a passion for networking and scalable distributed systems. You will support design, implementation, and optimization of data movement within our global ground station network infrastructure.

You'll collaborate with software, network, and FPGA engineers to build reliable, high-throughput systems, gain hands-on experience with Rust, C++, and Go, and learn cloud integration, CI/CD, and modern development

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with Rust, C++, or Go is a plus.
• Interest in networking, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Assist in defining secure and scalable interfaces for payload data transfer.
• Support design and implementation of data plane across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Develop, test, and maintain data movement pipelines for high-throughput data.
• Help build observable, fault-tolerant systems meeting uptime requirements.
• Gain hands-on experience with networking devices and protocols.
• Collaborate with software, network, and FPGA engineers to optimize deployments.
