Job summary

Northwood Space is seeking a motivated Software Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to help design and optimize data movement in our global ground station network. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable, reliable software and gain hands-on experience with networking and distributed systems.

Qualifications include currently pursuing a CS/SE degree, experience with Rust, C++, Golang, and familiarity with cloud and container tools like Docker and Terraform.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Rust, C++, and Golang.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and containerization tools (Docker, Terraform) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist in defining secure and scalable interfaces for payload data transfer and data movement pipelines.
• Support the design and implementation of the data plane across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Participate in developing, testing, and maintaining data movement systems for high throughput.
• Help build observable, fault-tolerant, and reliable software to meet uptime requirements.
• Gain hands-on experience with networking devices and protocols.
• Collaborate with software, network, and FPGA engineers to optimize deployments for performance and scalability.
