Job summary

Light & Wonder is seeking a Software Engineer - Intern to join our global engineering team in Las Vegas. You’ll help maintain automation, build and test tools, and learn how a healthy software supply chain works in production.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s in CS/Engineering, with some dev experience and an interest in DevOps. This is an in-office role requiring five days on site.

Qualifications

• Entry level position with some experience in a software development environment preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve build, packaging, deployment, and test automation.

• Support day-to-day technical services and operational tasks with the team.
• Collaborate with engineers to understand requirements, architecture, and tools.
• Research and evaluate new technologies and share findings with the team.

Position Summary

As a Software Engineer - Intern at Light & Wonder, you will join a collaborative, global engineering team that builds the technology behind our internal systems and customer-facing products. You will help maintain the automation and tools our engineers use to configure, build, package, deploy, and test software, and you will learn how a healthy software supply chain works in a real production environment.

Essential Job Functions

• Help maintain and improve build, packaging, deployment, and test automation
• Complete small development and scripting tasks that make our tools faster and more reliable
• Troubleshoot issues with internal systems and tools and help see them through to resolution
• Support day-to-day technical services and operational tasks alongside your team
• Work with engineers and peers to understand requirements, architecture, and development tools
• Research and evaluate new technologies and share what you learn with the team
• Document your work so others can build on it

Qualifications

• Entry level position, some experience in a software development environment preferred
• Currently pursuing or have completed a bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
• Genuine interest in DevOps and the software supply chain
• Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work well on a team.
• Good time management and organizational skills
• Detailed oriented and capable of working and completing tasks with supervision
• Exposure to virtual environments, Jenkins automation, Packer/Docker, Chocolatey desired
• Some Development abilities in C#, C++, VBScript, JavaScript, ASP.Net, HTML, Perl, awk, Python, Lua, PowerShell, Bash.
• Experience with databases such as MS SQL Server
• Exposure to software version control systems; GitHub, Perforce
• This position requires 5 Days in Office
