Job summary

Rise8 is hiring a Software Engineer III to work with government clients in a distributed, highly autonomous team environment. You will guide design thinking, test-driven development, paired programming, and continuous-release deployment while aligning with client preferences and real-time feedback.

You will mentor teams, develop end-to-end software, and ensure weekly delivery with a strong emphasis on security, AI tooling, and scalable engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Active Secret or TS/SCI security clearance is required.
• 3-6 years of software development experience across languages.
• Strong communication skills and interest in pair-programming.
• Experience with TDD and agile methodologies.
• Experience with PHP, Kotlin, Java, or JavaScript.
• Experience with Spring Boot, React.JS, Vue, or Redux.
• Experience in frontend and backend development.
• Experience using container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps tools: Git, Concourse, GitLabCI, SonarQube, Fortify, ThreadFix.
• Demonstrated API development experience.
• Comfortable running software in Linux environments.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, databases, and design patterns.
• Strong facilitation skills.
• Ability to obtain security clearance for US Government work.

Responsibilities

• Deliver working software and ensure a reliable solution with weekly deliveries.
• Pair with client developers to teach and adopt agile practices and measure business value.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical feasibility and user-focused functionality.
• Champion AI-augmented methods to accelerate delivery and reduce cycle time across engagements.
