Job summary

Onto Innovation in Wilmington, MA, is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our team developing next-generation semiconductor capital equipment for inspection and metrology, including AI-enabled systems.

You will translate customer requirements into software specifications, build robust motion-control and defect-detection algorithms, and contribute to system-level integration testing while collaborating with product management and field teams.

Qualifications

• 3 years of C++/C# software development experience.
• Experience in controlling mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience in motion control, motion tuning, DIO.
• Experience in semiconductor capital equipment development desired.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer and product requirements into functional specifications.
• Design and implement algorithms for defect detection and metrology.
• Design and implement software for motion control sub-systems.
• Motion profile tuning.
• Conduct design verification and system-level integration testing.
• Present technical solutions to application and product management teams.
• Support beta installations and evaluations at customer sites.
