Job summary

AbsenceSoft is seeking a Software Engineer III to design, develop, and deliver complex software powering our platform. You will drive technical strategy, elevate standards, and mentor junior engineers while taking ownership from design through delivery.

The role emphasizes deep technical craftsmanship, strong communication, and the ability to lead initiatives end-to-end in a remote-first environment with opportunities to shape scalable systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with SaaS platforms, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Drive architectural decisions and contribute to technical strategy.
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards.

• Participate in a highly compliant environment while assisting to maintain company controls and security within your job role.
• Assist in maintaining applicable organizational security and compliance controls within your department, role, and subordinates’ roles.

Software Engineer III

The Software Engineer III is a senior-level engineer responsible for designing, developing, and delivering complex software solutions that power AbsenceSoft’s platform. This role requires deep technical expertise, sound architectural judgment, and the ability to operate with substantial autonomy across cross-functional initiatives. Working closely with product management and engineering leadership, the Software Engineer III drives technical strategy, elevates engineering standards, and shapes how teams build and scale software. This role also carries a meaningful mentorship responsibility, coaching junior and mid-level engineers and helping raise the bar across the broader team. The ideal candidate pairs strong technical craftsmanship with clear communication and a genuine passion for building resilient, scalable systems. Above all, we’re looking for someone who thrives on solving hard problems and takes ownership of outcomes from design through delivery.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.

Final compensation is determined based on a candidate’s relevant experience, skills, education, and geographic location. This position is also eligible for annual bonus.
