Collins Aerospace in Sterling, VA, is seeking a Software Engineer II – Training System Software to join our SDS team. We design and build highly realistic simulators and training systems for defense and commercial customers, delivering mission-critical capabilities in a fast-paced, secure lab environment onsite.

This role involves multi-threaded software development, collaboration with hardware and test teams, and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
• U.S. citizenship only (dual citizenship not permitted) is required, as access to information under this program/contract is restricted to individuals with sole U.S. citizenship.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required prior to start date. The selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
• A working knowledge of C/C++

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test software on cross-functional agile teams to deliver solutions within budget, scope, and schedule constraints
• Highly motivated software developer
• Perform software debugging
• Work independently with general supervision
• Provide engineering estimates for own work
• Contribute to bidding and proposal activities
• Contribute to software and systems engineering requirements capture and analysis
• Travel to domestic and international customer sites to support training events and product installations
