Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration, and sustainment of advanced training systems for military platforms at a classified lab. The role requires DoD Secret clearance Day 1, on-site presence in Sterling, VA, and collaboration across software, hardware, and simulation teams.

You will drive lifecycle activities from requirements through deployment, mentor junior engineers, and support obsolescence management while ensuring systems reflect aircraft

Qualifications

• Experience with capture, analysis and decomposition of System requirements.
• Understanding of the Product Development Lifecycle – from CONOPS to Sustainment.
• Experience with MBSE design tools using SysML.
• Ability to work in a classified environment and obtain/maintain required security clearance.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Requires on-site presence in a classified lab space.
• Active and transferable DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle of training systems (requirements, design, integration, test, sustainment).
• Interface with customers, program managers, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with mission requirements.
• Ensure training systems reflect aircraft mission systems (radar, comms, C2).
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and simulation engineers to integrate subsystems.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies for performance, integration, delivery.
• Support upgrades, modifications, and obsolescence management for existing systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive process improvements.
