Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an Engineer II – Software Development in Houston, TX to enhance and maintain a custom in‑house test automation framework used by internal teams to validate Microchip storage products in a fast‑paced, fully automated test environment.

The role also involves maintaining infrastructure servers and network hardware, contributing to AI/ML tooling, and integrating observability into the QA infrastructure to improve reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• 2.5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• 4+ years of software development experience in web languages (HTML, CSS, JSON, jQuery, SQL, PHP, Java, TypeScript, NodeJS, Docker).
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs with Swagger/OpenAPI.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop test automation frameworks and tools.
• Maintain relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite) for automated testing.
• Collaborate with QA teams to improve the automated test environment.
• Maintain infrastructure servers and hardware for the QA environment.
• Implement observability via tracing, metrics, logs, and dashboards.
