Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. seeks an Engineer I-Software in Houston, TX to design, develop and support web-based management software and standards-based solutions for server storage applications.

You will work with teams across hardware, firmware, OS drivers and test to deliver complete storage solutions. The role emphasizes building new features, sustaining existing products and collaborating across teams in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Experience in developing storage products is a plus.
• Working knowledge of UIs and supporting APIs.
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C++, C#, Java.
• C programming language is a plus.
• Experience with Postman and Jenkins.
• Experience with XML, Web Services, JSON.
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and related frameworks.
• Familiarity with Perl, Python, and other scripting languages.
• Experience with VMware is a plus.
• Proficient with both Windows and Linux OSes and programming environments.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork.
• Strong problem solving and debugging abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and unit/behavioral test high quality application software and APIs within an Agile process.
• Manages project deliverables using Software Development Lifecycle.
• Maintains and supports applications and infrastructure and performs optimization and debugging tasks.
• Develop features for new generations of products and support current ones.
• Collaborate with other teams to build a complete software stack solution.
• Deliver software applications that meet customer requirements.
