Job description

Location: United States

We are looking for a Level 2 Software Engineer in Support to help us make specialty medications more accessible and affordable for patients. Keep reading to learn more about the role, our team and why House Rx is the right next step in your career.

About The Role

In the role of Software Engineer in Support, you will be responsible for triaging and resolving engineering escalations, reviewing and shipping fixes across our stack, and owning projects that reduce support load over time.

What You’ll Do
  • Prioritize and resolve software bugs impacting end-users (TypeScript, Node, React) and execute database changes (Postgres) to unblock workflows.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to address root causes and resolve larger product gaps surfaced through support.
  • Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and internal processes to expand the support knowledge base.
  • Monitor system performance, proactively identify potential issues (Grafana, Sentry), and participate in the escalation and on-call rotation to lead incident resolutions.
  • Review pull requests from teammates, providing constructive feedback on correctness, risk, and maintainability.
  • Own engineering projects from scoping through delivery, focusing on tooling and fixes that eliminate recurring escalations.
About You
  • Problem-Solving & Drive: Comfortable digging into unfamiliar code and production data to find root causes, and producing well-vetted fixes. You anticipate problems rather than waiting for them.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Clear, proactive communicator in writing and conversation, able to explain technical issues to engineers and non-technical partners alike, and to give and receive candid feedback.
  • Problem-Solving & Drive: Able to anticipate problems, dig into issues, and produce well vetted solutions.
  • AI Fluency: Able to leverage AI tooling and agents while maintaining a high quality of code and focused outcomes produced from them.
  • Technical Foundation:
    • Have 3 years experience building and maintaining production software, have a degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Judgment & Ownership: You weigh risk carefully when touching production, and know when to fix something yourself, when to escape, and when to bring in another team.
  • Craft & Growth: You view software development as a craft, stay curious, and keep raising your own bar.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving development environment.
  • An awareness that we fail and succeed together.
Why You’ll Grow With Us
  • Mentorship & Growth: Work alongside senior and staff engineers who invest in your growth, while sharpening your own judgment through code review and pairing with teammates.
  • Impactful Work: Build technology that directly helps patients.
  • Agency & Ownership: We provide opportunities to make a direct impact, accelerated by your drive.
  • Vibrant & Supportive Culture: Join a fun, thoughtful, and collaborative remote-first team.

Expected Full-Time Base Salary: $130,000 - $150,000

This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary/wage. The actual base salary/wage will depend on several factors, including experience, knowledge, and skills. Actual compensation packages may include other elements equity, paid time off and benefits.
