Job summary

Raytheon in El Segundo, CA seeks a software engineer to design, develop, and test software in an agile environment. The role requires DoD security clearance and experience with C/C++/Java, plus scripting, in a fast-paced defense setting.

You will troubleshoot, document system architecture, collaborate across disciplines, and participate in CI/CD pipelines to deliver secure software for national security programs. U.S. citizenship and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• DoD Clearance: Secret active on day one; ability to obtain TS and SAP.
• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
• 12+ months of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
• Experience with software development, test, and/or integration using C, C++, or Java, or similar high-level programming languages
• Experience with scripting languages
• Clear communication plans, status, and issues to teammates and program leadership
• Ensure the successful integration of software components into delivered products
• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance; U.S. citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test software based on software trouble reports in an agile, collaborative environment, delivering builds
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and efficiency in complex environments
• Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for software applications, including system architecture and design specifications
• Participate in agile execution and continuous improvement
• Work collaboratively with multiple engineering disciplines to analyze, implement, and test system modification requests to the existing system baseline
