Job description

Validic, Inc. is a digital health and remote care company devoted to our mission of improving the quality of human life by making personal data actionable. We’re seeking a Software Engineer II, who will be responsible for building out the various Company products, including the core data acquisition platform, APIs, and remote patient monitoring tools. This individual develops software and collaborates with product owners and team members on design, planning, coding, testing, and releasing solutions to ensure the timely delivery of data to clients.

What You’ll Do at Validic

  • Develop services that communicate with third party APIs in order to obtain data on behalf of the Company’s clients.
  • Build the products that deliver near real-time data to the Company’s clients in order for them to help their clients.
  • Implement features and bug fixes within the current production environment, including core enhancements and API integrations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of implemented functionality in an agile fashion.
  • Collaborate with product owners and engineers in design sessions ensuring that all solutions are aligned to business value and architectural specifications.
  • Participate in support rotation for production applications.

What You'll Bring to Validic

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required
  • At least five years of object-oriented programming experience developing software for use in Software-as-a-Service production environments
  • Experience working in an agile team environment using associated work tracking and version control workflows
  • Demonstrable experience with Kotlin or Go
  • Experience with other languages, such as JavaScript and Python preferred
  • Experience with build tools, such as Maven or Gradle, as well as continuous integrations tools like Jenkins preferred
  • Experience with AWS Glue, Spark, Apache Airflow or similar ETL technology preferred
  • Experience with test automation preferred, such as Cypress preferred
  • Experience with Kafka and other streaming platforms preferred
  • Experience with relational databases such as Postgres
  • Demonstrable understanding of container services, such as Docker preferred
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services preferred
  • Experience integrating with RESTful APIs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Achievement driven, with a “can-do” attitude
  • Solid understanding of RESTful web services and a working knowledge of JSON
  • Knowledge of relational, document and key-value data stores
  • Ability to comfortably assess and use open-source components in application development preferred
  • Ability to design system architectures, with a focus on scalability, robustness, and maintainability
  • Ability to learn, proactively seek and apply new knowledge and skills to stay ahead of emerging technologies
  • Ability to think outside the box, work on complex issues, push personal limits and cohesively learn and share with team members
  • Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects in an agile software development environment
  • Conscientious with a strong sense of duty and responsibility

The Fine Print

Location: Remote U.S. Based - Our core hours are 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Reports to: Manager, Software Engineering
Status: Full-Time/Exempt - No contract or contract to hire requests are being considered.

Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $105,000-$120,000 per year plus bonus. Placement within salary range is determined by level of education, knowledge and skills, and relevant years of experience beyond the minimum job requirements. Benefits include medical/dental/vision/life insurance, flexible spending accounts, equity, 401(k), and flexible time off/work schedule.

Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in a variety of environments with multiple distractions. Must be able to travel up to 10%.
