Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer on the Personal Mobile Devices team to design, build, and ship software powering next‑generation Alexa‑powered personal devices. You will work across on-device software, backend services, and AI integration layers, owning features from design through launch and operation.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, applied scientists, product managers, and designers in a fast-paced environment, contributing to operational excellence and on-call

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience of large-scale systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of OO design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in CS/Engineering/Math.
• Experience programming with at least one programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and operate high-quality software components for personal device experiences, owning them from design through production.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to raise quality.
• Translate product and design requirements into sound technical designs with pragmatic trade-offs.
• Debug and resolve issues across on-device software, backend services, and AI integration layers.
• Build monitoring, alarming, and automation to keep services healthy and participate in on-call rotations.
• Collaborate across engineering, applied science, design, and product to ship features on schedule and communicate risks clearly.
• Continuously learn new tools, frameworks, and agentic AI capabilities and bring knowledge back to the team.
