Job summary

Meta is seeking a Software Engineer, AI Specialist to define and lead the architectural direction of large-scale AI systems powering Meta's wearable devices — including smart glasses and next-generation wearables. You will build on-device and cloud AI experiences spanning multimodal understanding and real-time interactive AI.

This role blends cutting-edge AI research with production-scale engineering, shaping both systems and culture for Meta's wearables AI future.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience with AI or production AI systems.
• Experience leading multi-team technical initiatives end-to-end.
• Experience communicating complex AI designs to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Identify and solve the most complex AI modeling and systems challenges for wearables, including omni-LLM architecture optimized for power, latency, and compute.
• Define extensible foundations and standards for wearables AI model development, evaluation, and deployment pipelines.
• Drive the technical vision and multi-year roadmap for Wearables AI platform capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging AI architectures and industry developments relevant to Meta's wearables.
• Lead design and implementation of multimodal AI systems for wearables with reliability and real-time performance.
• Identify where AI tooling can eliminate engineering toil and drive AI-native workflows.
• Collaborate with research scientists to translate novel AI techniques into production wearables systems.
• Mentor engineers across the organization with architecture reviews and rigorous practice.
• Partner with hardware, legal, policy, and compliance teams to ensure privacy and security standards.
• Define metrics and data-driven decision-making principles for long-term wearables AI initiatives.
