Job Title

Software Engineer II / Senior Software Engineer – Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) – Pickle Research Campus, Austin, TX

About the Role

Lead the design and implementation of software and controls for semiconductor manufacturing equipment critical to the development of advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Develop software for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including low‑level drivers and high‑level application interfaces.
  • Collaborate with hardware and control engineering teams to research, design, and procure subsystems.
  • Write and maintain detailed software requirements and specifications, and perform rigorous testing and debugging.
  • Participate in code reviews, continuous integration pipelines, and software lifecycle management.
  • Support software deployment, troubleshooting, and documentation for production environments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Five years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, or comparable languages.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or similar control and simulation tools.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, object‑oriented design, build systems, revision control, and lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in writing and interpreting software requirements and specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast‑paced research environment.
  • Goal‑oriented and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a research or start‑up environment.
  • Prior work on hardware control or instrumentation software.
Salary Range
