Job summary

RTX is seeking a software engineer in McKinney, TX to join our embedded software teams supporting DoD programs. You will contribute to the software development life cycle for missiles, launchers, radars, and control systems, working on real-time applications and test software.

The Software organization develops the applications that drive missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems, as well as the integration and test software. These applications integrate firmware, operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to bring together sensor, guidance, and flight control capabilities to complete the mission. The Software org is made up of several Centers located across the country, responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. What You Will Do

• Support all aspects of a software development life cycle as members of an embedded software team. This will include supporting new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements, to design, development, integration, test, and potentially subsequent maintenance tasking.
• Use and provide creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems.
• Work onsite at McKinney, TX
• This position will require occasional business-related travel up to 20%.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant engineering experience.
• Experience in developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications written in C++ or closely related software languages.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.? U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.?

Qualifications We Prefer

• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance.
• Experience working in lab environments with physical hardware (e.g., test benches, simulators)
• Development experience in VxWorks or other Real Time Operating Systems.
• Experience with Ada programming language.
• Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
• Experience with product development utilizing the Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process.
• Hands-on experience with Git for version control.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
