Job summary

Harris Computer is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, test, and support enterprise healthcare applications on the IBM i platform. The role covers the full SDLC with RPG, CL, Db2 for i, SQL, and AI-assisted tooling, with emphasis on reliable, secure, maintainable solutions.

The engineer participates in requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and production support, while mentoring juniors and ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Five or more years of commercial software-development experience.
Experience with IBM i and RPG, ILE RPG, CL.
Experience with Db2 for i and SQL.
Experience with SQL stored procedures, functions, views, or triggers.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and writing skills.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain programs using RPG, ILE RPG, free-form RPG, CL, Db2 for i, embedded SQL, SQL procedures, and user-defined functions.
Produce technical designs that follow architecture, database, security, and coding standards.
Analyze requirements and translate them into software solutions.
Participate in Agile planning, stand-ups, and reviews.
Provide guidance to junior engineers and perform code reviews.
