Job summary

Bank of America is seeking an experienced software developer to deliver complex requirements for pricing and booking in the Structured Notes domain. You will lead development of Python services, ensure compliant interfaces, and contribute to CI/CD practices across the stack.

The role emphasizes strong Python server-side work, SQL (Oracle), and shell scripting in a fast-paced financial services environment. Collaboration with QA and agile teams is essential to success.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technology development experience, including 3+ years in development of front-office equities derivatives systems.
  • Computer science or equivalent degree.
  • Demonstrable experience designing and developing complex server-side functionality in Python.
  • SQL—preferably Oracle.
  • Shell scripting and basic Unix knowledge desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
  • Utilizes multiple architectural components (data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements.
  • Performs CI/CD activities.
  • Contributes to story refinement and requirement definitions.
  • Participates in estimating work to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyzes test reports and triages issues.
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as needed to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the technology stack.
  • Designs and develops new features within existing Python services; creates new services to expand the framework.
  • Contributes to future design and architecture.
  • Plans work in an agile manner with team members.
  • Writes acceptance tests in coordination with QA.

Job Description:

This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, coding solutions, unit testing, and ensuring the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces. Job expectations include an awareness of development and testing practices in the industry.

Position Summary:

Seeking an individual with strong Python skills, with Structured Notes domain knowledge preferred. The candidate will be responsible for leading delivery of pricing and booking functionality, critical to the continued buildout of our Structured Notes functionality.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities
  • Contributes to story refinement and definition of requirements
  • Participates in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
  • Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Develop a thorough understanding of our entire technology stack
  • Design and develop new features within existing Python services; create new services to expand the overall framework
  • Contribute to future design and architecture
  • Plan work in an agile manner with other team members
  • Write acceptance tests in coordination with QA

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ year of technology development experience and specifically 3+ years of experience in development of front-office equities derivatives systems. (Previous experience of working with SN and SP is a plus.)
  • Computer science or equivalent degree
  • Demonstrable experience of having designed and developed complex server-side functionality in Python
  • SQL - preferably Oracle
