Job summary

RTX’s Surveillance Sensor RF Solutions Engineering Team in the Dallas area is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer II - Silent Knight Radar to design, develop, and test real-time embedded software in C++ and related languages for missile and radar systems; onsite in McKinney, TX.

You will work in agile teams, use Git/GitLab, Python scripting, and DevSecOps practices, participate in design reviews, and travel occasionally. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain DoD clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications written in C++ or closely related software languages.
  • Experience in computer scripting languages such as Python/Shell/Perl.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The Software organization develops the applications that drive missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems, as well as the integration and test software. These applications integrate firmware, operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to bring together sensor, guidance, and flight control capabilities to complete the mission. Raytheon has an opportunity for an Embedded Software Engineer II - Silent Knight Radar to join our Surveillance Sensor Radio Frequency (RF) Solutions Engineering Team in the Dallas, TX area. What You Will Do

This job is onsite in McKinney, TX (TX190); applicants must be in the area or willing to relocate to it.

Qualifications (You Must Have)
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications written in C++ or closely related software languages.
  • Experience in computer scripting languages such as Python/Shell/Perl.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications (We Prefer)
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance.
  • Development experience on Linux, VxWorks, or other Real Time Operating Systems.
  • Experience working in lab environments with physical hardware (e.g., test benches, simulators).
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
  • Experience with product development utilizing the Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process.
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipeline implementation and use, including Static Code Analysis, Automated Build, and Automated Test techniques using continuous integration/continuous delivery with Test-Driven Development approach.
  • Hands-on experience with Git for version control and GitLab for repository management.
  • Experience translating Matlab algorithms into C++ source code.
  • Understanding of Terrain Following/Terrain Avoidance systems.
  • Experience developing and integrating software for a large Radar or other sensor system.

Relocation Offered Based On Eligibility

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
