Job summary

RTX's Surveillance Sensor RF Solutions Engineering Team in Plano, TX is seeking a Software Engineer II to design and implement embedded real-time software in heterogeneous systems with firmware and hardware.

Applicants must hold a Top Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship. Requirements include C++, RTOS/Linux experience, and development with Linux, DevSecOps tooling, and hardware-software integration. This is an onsite Plano role with relocation eligibility.

Qualifications

  • STEM degree and minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Real-time software applications in C++ or related languages.
  • Experience with Linux, VxWorks, or other RTOS.
  • Experience integrating hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Active Top Secret U.S. government clearance required; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement embedded real-time software in heterogeneous systems.
  • Develop or maintain DevSecOps tooling including build pipelines and test automation.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional radar data analysis teams.
  • Provide feedback from code reviews and support software integration and verification.
  • Contribute to brainstorming and translate user requirements into technical solutions.
  • Work with product/design teams to derive use cases and deliver practical solutions.
  • Tackle difficult problems and deliver on schedule.

What You Will Do
  • Architecting, designing, implementing, testing, and debugging integrated embedded real-time software within heterogenous systems composed of firmware and hardware.
  • Develop or maintain DevSecOps tooling such as build pipelines, test automation, deployment processes, and configuration management.
  • Participate in a cross-functional team performing analysis of radar data.
  • Provide feedback to other team members based up a review of their work.
  • Support software integration and verification activities.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to our technology, algorithms, products, and teaming.
  • Work in a team environment with the product and design teams to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and translate these into a pragmatic and effective technical solution.
  • Dive into difficult problems and successfully deliver results on schedule.

This job is onsite in Plano, TX (TX217); applicants must be in the area or willing to relocate to it.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience in developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications written in C++ or closely related software languages.
  • Development experience on Linux, VxWorks, or other Real Time Operating Systems.
  • Experience developing complex systems involving the integration of hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
  • Experience with product development utilizing the Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process.
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipeline implementation and use, including Static Code Analysis, Automated Build, and Automated Test techniques using continuous integration/continuous delivery with Test-Driven Development approach.
  • Hands-on experience with Git for version control and GitLab or Artifactory for repository management.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
