Job summary

Choice Hotels International seeks a Software Engineer 2 to join the Digital Experience domain in Scottsdale. You will design, build, and maintain secure and scalable software for choicehotels.com, deploying automated cloud solutions and contributing to performance optimization.

You will work in a fast-paced, technology-driven culture with on-call duties and collaboration across teams to deliver high-quality web services and APIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of progressive software development experience, especially highly transactional websites integrated with large-scale enterprise systems.
• Knowledge of agile software development methodologies, SOA, and object-oriented programming.
• Proficient in software development best practices: coding standards, reviews, SCM, builds, testing, and operations.
• Strong experience with Java and related frameworks (Spring MVC/Boot, JMS).
• Experience with cloud/AWS and secure coding practices.
• Understanding of encryption, authentication, and common security attacks.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and maintain software to improve security, availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of choicehotels.com and related services.
• Develop and deploy automated solutions to secure cloud development processes.
• Engage in service capacity planning, performance bottleneck analysis, and capacity provisioning.
• Participate in software performance analysis and system tuning.
• Implement monitoring and alerting across infrastructure components.
• Participate in rotating on-call duties, including after-hours/weekends.
• Deliver software on-time and provide accurate estimates.
• Identify and refactor technical debt before it grows.
• Stay updated on industry trends, languages, and tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, technology-driven culture.
